Abstract

Purpose: assessment of activity of free radical oxidation and antioxidant protection during vitrectomy in patients with retinal detachment.
Material and methods. We examined 67 patients with retinal detachment of various etiologies who underwentvitrectomy.
Results. We observed a positive dynamics of free radical oxidation after the operation - a full recovery of biochemical parameters in the late postoperative period. Among the complications mentioned cataract development in some patients who did not receive antioxidant therapy.
Summary: Optimal from the point of view of both the functional results and the status of free radical oxidation and antioxidant protection is the additional use during surgery means of antioxidant protection.
